Riot, Riot!
Last weekend I went to Haerbin. You may have heard about this city in Inner Mongolia as it has been all the rage recently.
There have been articles on CNN, Boston.com and the Huffington Post, just to name a few.
I wasn’t actually that aware before going this weekend. It sounded cool, I hadn’t been – done deal. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to travel China extensively so I set off to Harbin only 4 days after returning to Shanghai from the Philippines.
It was spectacular. Freezing cold, sunny and somewhere between absolutely tacky and absolutely wonderful.
The people of Harbin were extremely friendly and helpful and even with very minor Mandarin it was easy enough to get around. Put this on your list of places to see.
