I was out for bit, travelling. After Xi’An I was only back in Shanghai for a few days and then spent a long weekend with my Dad in Beijing.
My last purely pleasure oriented visit was back in 2008 and I left the city then with a sense of dislike. Too much smog, too many people, too many pictures of me taken without asking, too big.
This time around the experience was much better. I got to see a few college friends, ate great food and the sightseeing was rather chill.
We got to laugh about the fashion challenged, got to marble at the monstrosities that are the Great Wall and the Forbidden City and enjoy the relief of fresh air and green trees in the Summer Palace.
Here are some first impressions.
