A Pre-Birthday Weekend

By September 25, 2012April 14th, 2020One Comment

Thursday night I boarded a flight, direction motherland.

I chose to take a slightly longer route via Istanbul, but upgraded myself (It’s my birthday trip after all) to Turkish Airlines’ Comfort Class. And – oh! – the s.p.a.c.e.
Just wonderful. I arrived well rested and ready for the weekend I’d been waiting for. All my friends made their way to Münster, for an early birthday weekend event.

Blue Skies, the weekend market and a very grown-up city tour. Turning 30 clearly implies an increased level of maturity and a decreased level of energy. Which is in no way a bad thing. On the contrary – less drinking, more sleeping, more quality time.

Of course, my friends made sure to keep it semi Chinese. What’s better than Hello Kitty Cupcakes. Delish.

And finally, a friend from Kindergarten also turned 30 – local customs included he got to sweep the church stairs. I think I lucked out here.

Does 30 mean, 1/3 of life is done? That’s a rather tragic way of looking at it. Aren’t we the generation that reaches 100, no problem? As long as I stay healthy, I take any age.
