a golden October

A week after our Jeju trip I went back for Germany for another 10 days. For work mainly, however I also managed to see some more friends and my grandmother turned 90. It was quite the eventful 10 days and I came back to Shanghai more exhausted than ever.
Jetlag has been hitting it hard and sleep happens when I dream. No pun intended. I have rarely been so excited to get back to Shanghai, back home. Opening the door to my apartment was a huge relief and now I am relishing in the thoughts about various home improvement projects I want to tackle this winter.

First and foremost though, here’s a short retrospective for the last 2 weeks, in which I went MIA.

First up was Munich, where it was a delicious crisp and sunny weekend with temperatures reaching the high teens.

I met my up with college house mate Ellen for a very late breakfast at the Gartensalon. Since it was very late, it was the perfect time for a juicy piece of cake, a Radler and some Apfelschorle. German all-time favorites.

The weekend after my grandmother turned 90. It was one of those rare occasions where the family comes together, thankfully this time around it was a very pleasant reason. She had supreme weather and guests and food and I am very thankful for the great coinciding dates with my business trip so that I had the chance to be part of the celebrations.

It truly was a golden October in Germany and I left right in time to skip the nasty weather that is due this weekend, whereas here in Shanghai we can still enjoy some major smog sunshine.
