“The novels of Andrea Camilleri breathe out the sense of place, the sense of humor, and the sense of despair that fill the air of Sicily.”
-Donna Leon
Inspector Salvo Montalbano enjoys food, wine, whiskey and a morning on this ocean view veranda. He has trouble with women and uses unorthodox methods to solve his mysteries. A throughly lovable character.
In this latest of installment Montalbano finds a horse carcass that has been bludgeoned to death on the beach in front of his home. The crime takes him in to the world of illegal horse racing and mafia.
A good weekend’s read that deserves 4 out of 5 stars.
